About this race
Rainbow Ridge is an October trail race near Rainbow, Oregon, offering a 50K and a 20K. The 50K involves significant elevation gain, exceeding 8,000 feet across multiple summits, with a point-to-point start accessed via shuttle from the upper McKenzie community center. The 20K begins at the community center, ascends approximately 2,600 feet to Kings Castle, and then follows a predominantly downhill path back.
The 50K course crosses old growth forest and volcanic landscapes, passing landmarks like Horsepasture Mountain, Macduff Mountain, and Kings Castle. Aid stations are located at Horsepasture Mountain trailhead, O'Leary/Castle Rock trailhead, East Fork trailhead, and roadside at Rd 480/Kings Castle, with cutoffs implemented in the latter half. The race provides substantial aid station fare, including quesadillas and potatoes, and concludes at the community center with pulled pork sandwiches, soup, beer, and other post-race provisions. This new Pacific Northwest event has Run Oregon as both scenic and challenging.
