About this race
The Reindeer Run Minneapolis takes runners around Lake Harriet during the Christmas season, offering 5K, 10K, and 15K distances, along with a 0.4-mile children's run. This holiday road race incorporates costumes, attracting participants in festive attire, families, walkers in the 5K, and runners aiming for age-group awards. The event has been a fixture in Minnesota running since 1987.
The course is set around Lake Harriet, with the longer races beginning before the 5K to accommodate the 15K's 12-minute-per-mile pace requirement. The event embraces the holiday spirit through photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and Rudolph, complimentary hot chocolate and coffee provided by the Salvation Army, a race-day kettle for donations, and a toy drive for new, unwrapped gifts. Participants who finish receive a medal, and single-wide strollers are permitted in the 5K only.
