About this race
RRRC Bear Creek is a trail-running weekend held at Bear Creek Lake State Park in Cumberland, Virginia, located approximately 45 minutes west of Richmond. The primary event is a 10-mile trail run. A shorter 4.2-mile Mini Trail Run is available for runners or hikers seeking the same wooded environment without the full distance. The in-person participation is intentionally limited to 275 total runners: 200 for the 10-mile race and 75 for the Mini. A virtual 10-mile option is also provided.
Both in-person races begin and end within Bear Creek Lake State Park. The 10-mile course crosses the piedmont hills of Cumberland State Forest and Bear Creek Lake State Park. The Mini course utilizes park trails, the Willis River Trail single track, and the Cumberland Multi-use Trail. The event attracts trail runners and hikers, differing from large road-race gatherings. The Richmond Road Runners Club allocates $1 from each registration to Friends of Bear Creek Lake State Park, a Central Piedmont, Virginia volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the park.
