Running for Africa

Running for Africa is a September race day at The Park at Hayes Farm in Huntsville, Alabama, featuring a 5K run followed by a 1-mile fun run and walk. Gates open in the morning, with the 5K starting first. The shorter event offers families, walkers, and newer runners a less demanding option. Fleet Feet Huntsville/Madison organizes the event, and on-site late registration accommodates those deciding close to race morning. The race benefits Archangel Group International, a nonprofit founded by Decatur Police Officer Jonathan Macklin to combat poverty and human trafficking in Africa. The 5K awards overall and masters trophies for men and women, along with age-group medals from 14 and under to 70 and up. All participants receive a race medal, and early registrants get a race shirt, reflecting an approach centered on both fundraising and a local community race atmosphere.
