About this race
The Salmon River 5.5 Mile Run is a road race in rural Eastern Connecticut, starting and finishing at the Comstock covered bridge. It is a short road-and-trail race, with runners moving through quiet forest roads and paths near the Salmon River.
The course follows the river through the State Forest and uses part of the Airline Trail, mixing pavement, dirt road, and improved trail before a downhill finish. After the race, runners gather on the riverbank for a BBQ and awards ceremony, and the event keeps its green theme by asking participants to bring old shoes for recycling. The first 100 entrants also receive a T-shirt.
