Sole Survivor Backyard Ultra (Washington State)

SAT, September 12, 2026 · Richland , United States

Distances

6.7 km

About this race

At Sole Survivor Backyard Ultra in Washington State, all participants begin the same 4.16-mile loop at the start of each hour. If you finish before the hour concludes, you can start the next loop; failing to meet the cutoff results in a DNF. This event focuses not on the quickest lap time, but on endurance – who can continue after others have withdrawn. The format transforms distance into hourly achievements: seven loops equal a marathon, eight loops make 50K, twelve loops reach 50 miles, and twenty-four loops complete 100 miles. Runners completing 24 hours receive a custom Sole Survivor belt buckle, and the overall victor gains entry into Big’s Backyard Ultra with airfare support. The race adheres to the backyard-ultra concept established by Lazarus Lake, featuring a single aid station, a BBQ at dusk, and hot soup during the night.
