About this race
SOME's Trot for Hunger begins at Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C., on Thanksgiving morning. Thousands of neighbors gather for what organizers describe as the city's largest and only Turkey Trot. The in-person event features a timed 5K, the Little Turkey 1-Miler, and a finisher festival. A virtual 5K option allows participation from any neighborhood or park throughout November.
The event directly supports SOME's mission for individuals in need, raising funds for meals, housing, healthcare, and job training. Now in its 25th year, the trot maintains a strong holiday spirit. Children have their own mile race, walkers and runners participate together, awards are presented after the 5K, and a Best Dressed Turkey costume contest is open to pets.
