About this race
Southern Tour Ultra is a January race weekend near Wilmington, North Carolina, using repeated 10-mile loops instead of a single point-to-point course. The longest event is a 100-mile individual ultra starting Friday at noon. Saturday features the 50-mile race, the 50K, and a 50-mile team relay. Participants can run individually, share the distance with a relay team, or stay at the race site for the entire weekend.
The loop structure simplifies calculations: 10 laps for the 100-mile race, 5 laps for the 50-mile, and 3 laps for the 50K. Shuttle service operates from Poplar Grove Plantation on Saturday morning, with all participants needing to finish by 8:00 p.m. The event embraces a tailgate atmosphere with classic rock music, beer, camping, and a large bonfire, making the weekend feel like an ultra campout as much as a series of long-distance races.
