About this race
Stars, Stripes, & Strides is a Veterans Day weekend running event in Cary, North Carolina, based at 801 High House Road by Fred G. Bond Metro Park. Runners can choose 15K, 10K, 5K, or 1 Mile distances, and there is also a virtual race option. The event is open beyond traditional runners: participants are invited to run, walk, roll, or stroll. Fit & Able organizes the race as a benefit for the US Veterans Corps.
The race’s military connection is practical, not just symbolic. The US Veterans Corps is made up of military and first responder veterans who do hands-on community service, including building and donating homes for disabled combat veterans, collecting toys for children of deployed or low-income troops, providing food for military and first responder veteran families, and sending a response team to natural disasters. The event also keeps course records for the 5K, 10K, and 15K, with a small gift-code prize for anyone who sets a new mark.
