About this race
The Tecumseh Trail Challenge Training Runs offer trail races in Yellowwood State Forest, near Nashville, Indiana. Distances include 8-mile, half marathon, marathon, 50K, and 50K relay options. The relay is designed for teams of two to four people, utilizing the 8-mile course. This setup accommodates newer trail runners, marathoners, ultra runners, and groups wishing to share the distance. Festival-style camping is available at the race site, with more primitive campsites located about a mile away. Packet pickup and late registration are available the evening before the run.
The race connects to the Tecumseh Trail, a 42-mile Indiana footpath developed by the Hoosier Hikers Council for hiking, backpacking, and trail running. The trail begins at Morgan-Monroe State Forest Headquarters and concludes in remote Brown County forest near Monroe Lake. It features numerous large hills, though they are typically less steep and less demanding than those on the Knobstone Trail. This characteristic makes the Tecumseh Trail a preferred training ground for runners seeking a less intense challenge. Following the running, the event fosters a campout atmosphere with finisher medals, age-group awards, complimentary finish-line engraving, live music, a s'mores buffet, Athletic Brewing for participants 21 and older, and a mashed potato bar offering chicken noodle or vegan soup.
