About this race
The Texas Double is a multi-day marathon and half marathon series held at Bachman Lake in Dallas, on park grounds near Love Field. Participants can select a half or a full marathon on each race day, with a structure designed for multiple races rather than a single event. These races are chip timed, open to all, and have no cutoff times, making them suitable for walkers, back-of-the-pack runners, and individuals accumulating races for marathon clubs. Running the Distance, LLC organizes the series, adhering to the guidelines set by the 50 State Marathon Club and Marathon Maniacs.
The course consists of loops around Bachman Lake: the marathon covers 8 loops, and the half marathon uses 4 loops with a brief out-and-back section at the beginning. The terrain is predominantly fast and flat, featuring two minor inclines at the dam and near the start/finish line. The course has a history of USATF certification, though ongoing construction has impacted this; recertification is planned once the work concludes. All finishers are listed in the results and receive a medal for each race completed. An additional medal is available for completing the entire series, with one shirt provided for the series. Twenty percent of the proceeds benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the event fosters a close-knit volunteer and aid station culture that organizers refer to as a "running family."
