Sandy is a nine mile trail run inside Kohler-Andrae State Park in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, with runners starting and finishing near the park’s indoor shelter area. It is mostly flat for a trail race, though the course still adds up to 509 feet of climbing and 485 feet of descending across the full route.
The course moves between concrete paths, wide park trails, shoreline sand, a boardwalk, and inland trails through marsh, pine, and prairie areas. Runners should expect changing footing rather than a technical mountain-style route. There is one aid station on course, and refreshments are cupless, so carrying a cup or bottle is part of the setup.
