About this race
The Big Cross Frozen Tundra is a winter trail race at Big Cross in Pasco, Washington. It features a 2.5-mile run/walk and a 5-mile run, both starting at 9:30 a.m. The course utilizes woodchip, dirt, and gravel trails. The 5-mile race consists of two laps of the 2.5-mile loop. Each race has a limit of 120 participants. The short event is suitable for all ages, from young children to older adults, while the 5-mile option is for participants aged 10 and up.
The course includes four significant hill climbs and descents, interspersed with smaller hills and flatter sections, giving it a cross-country character rather than a road-race feel. The event attracts many current, former, and aspiring Tri-Cities high school cross country and track athletes. Participants are encouraged to represent their schools, create informal teams, and wear their team uniforms. While team scores are not officially recorded, runners can contribute to local high school cross country programs via donations. The top 10 male and female finishers will receive placement ribbons.
