About this race
The Conor Irwin Memorial Classic, a 5K and kids race, takes place at Ledyard High School in Connecticut. It honors Conor Irwin, who passed away at 14. All race proceeds benefit the Conor Irwin Memorial Fund, supporting scholarships for students. The live 5K begins on the high school's outdoor track, and a virtual 5K option is available for those unable to attend.
The 5K follows the Conor S. Irwin Memorial Cross Country Course, establishing a distinct school and cross-country identity. The kids race is divided by age for children 1 to 11, with ribbons for the top three finishers in each gender category. Awards for the live 5K go to the top three overall male and female runners, and the top three in each age group. Virtual participants have flexibility in how they complete their 5K, with options like running, walking, hiking, biking, swimming, rowing, kayaking, paddleboarding, rollerblading, canoeing, ice skating, treadmill, or stationary bike.
