About this race

The Polidor 5K Run/Walk begins at St. Bartholomew School on 27th Street in Columbus, Indiana. Runners and walkers start together in the morning. It is a certified 5K with separate run and walk categories for ages 14 and under, and 15 and over. A T-shirt registration option is available. Same-day check-in and registration occur before the start. Parking is provided on site, and volunteers will be stationed at intersections. The course winds through the Donner Park area, making this a neighborhood 5K rather than a large road race. Its purpose supports ALFA, an adult literacy program linked with Friends of Haiti at St. Bartholomew Parish and the parishes of St. Ann and St. Isadore in Limonade, Haiti. Participants run and walk in solidarity with market women and peasant farmers learning to read. The race generates funds for basic class supplies and teacher stipends. The Columbus event also reflects a Carnival-time cross-country walk in Haiti, where literacy students celebrate, recruit new learners, and move through rural communities with music and dancing.
