About this race
The Yeti Snakebite 50/50 is an August trail race held at Sweetwater Creek State Park in Lithia Springs, Georgia, near Atlanta. It takes place in the intense heat and humidity of late summer, typically on the final weekend of the month. The primary format allows participants 8.88 hours to complete as much distance as possible on a 6-mile loop. Prize money begins at 25K and increases, with a hidden option beyond 50K for those who continue. There are no DNFs or cutoffs, making the day about personal endurance rather than beating a time limit.
The loop crosses a river, winds through wooded paths, and crosses hills that are more challenging than their short distance implies. Sweetwater's trails can be technical, and night editions of the race require headlamps, introduce the risk of wrong turns, and transform familiar routes into something new after dark. Jason Green and Yeti Trail Runners organize the event, which originated from a concept in the Yeti Garage. A notable feature is the island aid station situated in the middle of the river crossing, offering music, festive lights, companionship, and a rope to assist with the passage.
