Tim & Jeannie Hamann Foundation Benicia Hand Up Turkey Trot 2026

The Benicia Hand Up Turkey Trot is an untimed Thanksgiving Day run and walk held at Benicia Community Park in Benicia, California, beginning at 540 Rose Drive. It benefits the Tim & Jeannie Hamann Foundation, established in 2014, which has provided over $1.5 million to individuals battling cancer. This support covers rent, mortgage payments, gas, groceries, medical bills, utilities, and other direct necessities. The event maintains a low-pressure atmosphere: runners, known as Trotters, depart first, followed by walkers, called Wobblers, and children aged 10 and under participate without charge. Two course options are available. One covers approximately 2 miles, including an out-and-back section with a hill towards Lake Herman. The second is about 1.5 miles along the Benicia Community Park Trail, completed in two laps without the incline. The event also features a costume contest with categories for Little Turkey, Big Turkey, a "Flock of Turkeys" group, and dog costumes, offering prizes like gift cards and a dog goodies basket. It proceeds regardless of weather and functions more as a community fundraiser than a competitive race, drawing sponsors, volunteers, families, walkers, runners, children, and costumed dogs.
