About this race
The Traverse Mountain Half Marathon is a small pavement half marathon in Highland, Utah, located about twenty minutes south of Salt Lake City. It begins and ends at Mitchell Hollow Park, starting at 8:00 a.m. Happy Trails Running hosts this boutique race, limited to under 300 participants. The event takes place in late fall on gentle, rolling terrain, covering 13.1 miles with approximately 506 feet of total elevation gain.
The out-and-back course follows the Murdock Canal Trail and Utah Rail Trail, with a turnaround at Shadow Ridge Park. It remains on paved paths, free of road crossings or shared vehicle right-of-way. Participants will see open views of Mount Timpanogos, Lone Peak, Box Elder, and the Wasatch Front, along with a pedestrian bridge connecting the trail system to the city. Aid stations are positioned every 2 to 3 miles, offering water, Tailwind, fruit, Honey Stinger snacks, and candy. There is no cutoff time, welcoming both walkers and slower runners. The event's small-race amenities include locally crafted finisher and age-group medals, performance-oriented shirts, breakfast from Great Harvest, complimentary unwatermarked race photos, and live results.
