About this race
The Tri-Cities Marathon begins and ends at the Riverfront Hotel in Richland, Washington. Participants can select a full marathon, a half marathon, or a marathon relay for teams of up to four. It typically takes place on the last Sunday of October. The marathon and relay begin first, with the half marathon starting an hour later. The event caters to both regular runners and racers, offering chip timing, course support, a shirt, and a finisher medal. A wheelchair start is positioned just before the marathon field.
The half marathon follows a USATF-certified out-and-back course into Pasco, with a turnaround point near the Road 54 boat launch. The marathon utilizes a long-established Tri-Cities route, featuring relay exchanges at the Road 54 boat launch and near the Columbia Park Bandshell in Kennewick. Teams are responsible for their own transportation between exchange points. Both distances are largely flat, with the exception of the bridges; their ramps are steep but brief, and the final bridge is encountered approximately 2 miles from the finish. Aid stations are located roughly every 2 miles, providing water, electrolytes, food, first aid kits, and nearby restrooms. Mile and 5K markers are also present to help participants track their progress.
