About this race
Commemorating its seventh year, this event honors the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter who ran three miles through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. The annual gathering recognizes first responders and remembers 9/11, acknowledging the sacrifices made in the line of duty.
Participants can walk or run, welcoming anyone to honor those who served. A tradition allows participants to wear firefighter turnout gear or military backpacks, mirroring Stephen Siller's actions. All finishers receive medals, with special recognition for top overall runners and first responders completing the course in gear.
