Under the Helmet 5k Run and Fun Run 2027

The Under the Helmet 5k Run and Fun Run begins the year in downtown Brunswick, Georgia. The 5k starts at 9:00 a.m., followed by a shorter Fun Run/Walk option. Both start and finish are near Queen’s Square, around Mansfield and Newcastle streets. The 5k route goes through historic Brunswick before returning downtown. This is a local community race, not a large destination event. Overall and age-group awards are given for the 5k, and shirts are guaranteed for those who register by mid-December. The Pilot Club of Brunswick, a member of Pilot International since 1921, organizes the race. The name “Under the Helmet” relates to the club’s brain-safety initiatives. Its BrainMinders program educates children on preventing brain injuries through puppet shows for young students and a helmet project that gives free safety helmets to local youth. The club also aids caregivers, Memory Matters, Memory Walks, and provides scholarships for high school seniors pursuing medical careers. Thus, the race supports its ongoing service work in Brunswick.
