About this race
The Vermont Rare Gravel Ride is a grassroots gravel event in Tunbridge, Vermont, centered on The Ranger’s mass-start ride and gravel enduro format. Rides begin at 9 a.m., with camping offered Friday and Saturday nights. Participants can select 18-, 40-, or 60-mile routes. Anyone wishing to race does so by riding timed segments within the larger ride, not by pursuing an overall finish time.
The 18-mile Green Course includes just over 2,000 feet of climbing in a short loop, featuring one sag stop and one timed segment; a Community No-Drop Ride follows this same route. The 40-mile Gravel Enduro, the main option, utilizes hardpacked dirt roads and technical Class IV sections near hilly Tunbridge, accumulating over 5,000 feet of elevation gain. The 60-mile route adds a 20-mile loop, totals more than 7,900 feet of climbing, and shares enduro scoring with the 40-mile riders as the additional loop contains no timed segments. Children have their own free Junior Ranger ride of approximately five miles on flat fields and trails, with adults expected to accompany them.
