About this race
The Westfield Turkey Trot takes place annually on the Saturday after Thanksgiving at Tamaques Park in Westfield, New Jersey. It has been held every year since 1984. The event offers several races: the main 5-mile Turkey Trot, the 5280 Run (a competitive mile for ages 15 and up), the PracticeHard Mile (open to all ages), and a distinct 5-mile race for military members and veterans.
The event is structured more like a community race day than a typical single-start road race, with various distances starting from the same park location. The PracticeHard Mile is suitable for children, walkers, and families, with awards for participants 14 and younger. The 5280 Run maintains the mile distance for more competitive older runners. Additionally, groups can reserve a 10-by-10-foot tent with a table and chairs, a feature that aligns with the event’s established local tradition and provides a convenient gathering spot for teams or families before and after their races.
