About this race
Wild Duluth Races is a fall trail-running weekend in Duluth, Minnesota, featuring 100K and 50K ultramarathons, the Harder 'n Heck Half Marathon, and the Terribly Tough 10K. The ultras have run since 2009, the half marathon began in 2010, and the 10K was added later. The races utilize the rocky, root-filled Superior Hiking Trail; though much of the running is within Duluth city limits, the footing and woods create a feeling far wilder than a city race.
The 100K begins and ends at Bayfront Park. The 50K starts at Oldenburg Point Picnic Area in Jay Cooke State Park and also finishes at Bayfront. The 10K begins at the Munger Trail Trailhead, and the half marathon starts at Chambers Grove Park; both finish at Spirit Mountain. The half marathon route was modified to bypass most busy road crossings, with Becks Road remaining the primary one. Both the half and 10K ascend Ely's Peak, offering views over Duluth and Lake Superior. Runners may also combine events: completing the 50K on Saturday and the half on Sunday earns the WILDMAN or WILDWOMAN title, while pairing the 100K with a Sunday half or 10K earns the ULTIMATE title.
