Wild West CX

Wild West CX is a cyclocross race held at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Golden, Colorado, located on the west side of the Denver metro area. This event is the Colorado State Cyclocross Championship, making it more than a typical local cross day. Riders compete for state titles on a course constructed within a fairgrounds, distinct from a park or road circuit. The venue is at 15200 West 6th Avenue, easily accessible from Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Denver International Airport. The course utilizes the fairgrounds setting, featuring sections where racers ride through barns, navigate multiple stair climbs, and contend with off-camber terrain that penalizes imprecise lines. Rattler Racing organizes the event, providing professional timing and relying on a substantial volunteer team for race day operations. The Wild West CX name is part of a series of Rattler Racing events that include The Bear, Fangdango, Mad Gravel, Sunrise to Sunset, and the Thunder Valley Short Track Series. As the fairgrounds is a non-alcohol venue on race day, the championship maintains a practical, race-focused atmosphere rather than a festival environment.
