Women's Decathlon World Championships 2026

SAT, August 8, 2026 · Geneva , United States

About this race

The Women’s Decathlon World Championships is a two-day track and field meet at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, usually held in late summer. It gives women a full decathlon: 10 running, jumping, and throwing events, the same all-around format long used to crown the “World’s Greatest Athlete.” The point is unusually direct: women can compete in the individual events, but they are still barred from the decathlon at the international and Olympic level, where the heptathlon remains their official multi-event option. The meet brings elite women from several countries, with open girls’ and women’s divisions plus an all-genders, ages, and abilities category. A shorter “Try”-athlon lets newer athletes sample the format over two days, with long jump, shot put, and 100 meters first, then pole vault, javelin, and 200 meters. American decathlete Lauren Kuntz organizes the event, and the first edition drew 30 women from 12 countries; Nikki Boon of the Netherlands won, with Katie Straus and Jordyn Bruce of the United States next.
