Worcester Firefighters 6K

The Worcester Firefighters 6K takes place in Institute Park, located on Salisbury Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. The start and finish lines are situated within the park, which also serves as the venue for the post-race BBQ. This yearly event, held in early summer, features a 6K run/walk, a 3K walk, and a 1K fun run for children under 12. Both the 6K and 3K races are chip-timed, whereas the children's race is untimed. The course for adults is a loop. Participants in the 3K walk complete one loop, while 6K runners and walkers complete two loops. The Kids 1K follows an out-and-back route originating from the main start and finish area. The race was established to commemorate the Worcester Six, firefighters who perished in the Worcester Cold Storage Fire. It also pays tribute to subsequent Worcester Fire Department members lost in the line of duty. The event welcomes families, walkers, runners, children, and participants with strollers, with stroller users requested to begin at the rear for safety.
