Wrightsville Plunge 2027

The Wrightsville Plunge sends participants into the ocean at Wrightsville Beach every New Year's Day, beginning at noon. It is a cold-water plunge, not a road race, and has taken place for over ten years as a fundraiser for Communities In Schools of Cape Fear, an organization supporting local students' academic progress and graduation. The event centers on a brisk, cold start to the year with a casual beach-day atmosphere. Registration provides a shuttle from Wrightsville Beach Park, photo opportunities, a costume contest, and a choice of event merchandise like a tee, beanie, or trucker hat. A separate after-party is also available, leading many to attend less for competition and more for the shared New Year's ritual and the opportunity to support young people in the Cape Fear region.
