Yellow Brick Road 5K

The Yellow Brick Road 5K is a run-walk in downtown Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, held on the first Saturday in June. It starts at Village Green Park above Fowler Lake and offers families several ways to participate: a 5K run, a 2-mile walk, and a free half-mile Kids Fun Run for children ten and under. The race supports the Oconomowoc Area Chamber of Commerce and has been part of the local calendar since 2006. The route follows the narrow stretch of land between Fowler Lake and Lake Lac La Belle, passes through a neighborhood, and returns to Village Green Park for the finish. The Wizard of Oz theme references Oconomowoc’s film history: the movie had its world premiere at the city’s Strand Theater. Hundreds of runners and walkers of different ages participate each year, and many dress for the theme. Finishers receive a commemorative medal, kids get their own medal in the fun run, and the finish area includes bottled water and snacks.
