Spirit of the Valley 5k 2026

The Spirit of the Valley 5k is a timed run, walk, and roll event held at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Grand Junction, Colorado. The start and finish lines are located at 27 1/2 Road and Cortland Avenue. The primary events are a 5K Run and 5K Roll, with 1K run and roll options available for a shorter distance. The race begins in the morning and is open to runners, walkers, wheelchair users, and other rollers. Early registration is recommended for those wishing to secure a race shirt. The event emphasizes local support alongside the racing. Proceeds benefit the VA Recreational Therapy Program on the Western Slope, which assists disabled veterans with activities such as fishing, kayaking, biking, and swimming. Funds also go to Hilltop's Latimer House, providing safe housing, advocacy, and crisis lines for individuals affected by domestic violence or sexual assault. Participants and volunteers receive a sack brunch post-race. Live rock 'n roll music will be performed, and childcare is available from vetted providers on a donation basis. Individuals not participating in the run, walk, or roll can contribute as sponsors.
