Ortigosa Trail 2026

Ortigosa Trail is a mountain running event held in Ortigosa de Cameros, within the Cameros Nuevo region of La Rioja. It is part of the La Rioja Mountain Races Chiruca Experience circuit and concludes the spring cup, serving as a scoring race in the regional series, not just a local trail run. The event offers multiple race options: longer trails of approximately 35 to 40 km, a mid-distance option of around 21 km in certain years, a shorter race of 15 to 16 km, and a hiking march covering a similar distance. The courses traverse the landscape of Cameros Nuevo, an area in La Rioja with small, historic villages and mountainous terrain, distinct from an urban environment. The longest listed distance is about 40 km with 2,500 metres of elevation gain, presenting a significant mountain challenge. The event is organized by the Ortigosa de Cameros City Council, with Unión Tertulia Ortigosana also credited as an organizer in later materials. It attracts competitive trail runners aiming for circuit points, as well as participants opting for the shorter race or march for a less demanding outdoor experience.
