San Silvestre Villa de Lumbrales

San Silvestre Villa de Lumbrales is a popular late-December race held in Lumbrales, a town in Salamanca, Castilla y León. The main adult race covers 7 km, with separate events for children and a walking category for andarines, indicating a focus on local participation over purely competitive running. Organized by the Lumbrales City Council, the race is a fixture on the Salamanca running calendar as one of the province’s year-end events. The event gathers children, young runners, adults, walkers, club athletes, and local families. Past editions have attracted over 200 participants, and the adult race has also been reported as a 6 km event. Óscar Herrero, a runner from Lumbrales, won the absolute race in one edition, highlighting the event's strong local connection. Following the races, participants remain for the prize ceremony and hot chocolate, a straightforward San Silvestre conclusion fitting the year-end atmosphere.
