Ultratrail Guara Somontano begins in Alquézar, a stone village in Aragon, Spain, leading participants into the Sierra de Guara and its canyon landscapes. The series provides multiple trail distances, ranging from 17 km and 28 km to longer routes of approximately 52 km and 107 km. The 48 km race, similar to a 50K, holds a UTMB Index and features around 2,500 meters of elevation gain.
This event offers genuine mountain running with rocky paths, ravines, and pre-Pyrenean terrain, including significant climbs that challenge those who start too fast. The race attracts ultra runners, trail runners, and families, and is a long-standing fixture in Spanish trail running. Entry slots sell out rapidly, and participants return for the challenging terrain and atmosphere. A unique tradition includes a limited-edition commemorative shirt printed with the names of course landmarks.
