À propos de cette course
The Squirrel Challenge is a six-hour timed race held at Daventry Country Park in Northamptonshire. It takes place on an approximate 3.3-mile off-road loop. Participants complete laps within the six-hour time limit, stopping when they choose or when time expires. Completing one lap counts as a finish, four laps equate to a half marathon, and eight laps constitute a marathon. The format allows for longer distances; strong runners can exceed 50 miles by continuing laps.
The loop consists of park pathways and crushed stone, with the organiser estimating 80% of the route offers good running conditions. It crosses woods, open fields, and areas alongside water, providing varied scenery within the park. Big Bear Events manages the race, which accommodates runners, hikers, ruckers, walkers, and canicross participants running with dogs. Dog handlers begin with the main group, must keep dogs on short leads, and are requested to maintain distance from others. The location provides a large car park, a cafe, a play area, and toilets, with Long Buckby being the closest train station.
