Stoke-on-Trent is a flat industrial city on the River Trent where time trialists thrive—the WattShop TT Weekend stages and Leek CC's Den Engel Belgian Bar 25 draw serious cyclists to fast, rolling courses in the surrounding Staffordshire countryside. Runners are mostly confined to the city centre and canal towpaths; the Potteries Loop and riverbank paths offer flat, technical terrain at around 150m elevation.
