À propos de cette course
The AEGEAN 600 begins and ends at Olympic Marine in Lavrion, Greece, sending offshore crews into a 600-mile race across the Aegean. This is a yearly summer sailing race, organized by the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club, featuring both monohulls and multihulls. Established in 2021, the race was designed with a sailor-first approach: fast boats, serious navigation, and ample open-water sailing to test performance, safety, and seamanship, not solely speed.
The course can become challenging quickly when the Meltemi winds blow from the north, bringing 18-22 knot winds and white-capped seas, providing crews a difficult start under clear skies. The fleet has expanded with entries from across the globe, including seasoned offshore skippers who also compete in 600-mile classics like the Caribbean 600, Sydney-Hobart, and Middle Sea Race. French skipper Frederic Puzin, who sails the Carkeek 54 DAGUET 5, described it as “a fantastic race, one of the best,” a statement carrying weight given his podium finishes in comparable events.
