Rimini's running scene centres on the flat Adriatic coast and inland lakes—the Maratonina dei Laghi loops through the regional water routes, while the Riccione Sunset Run hugs the seafront just south. Cyclists head inland toward the Apennine foothills (elevation gains of 400–600m within 20km) where the Granfondo Riccione and Granfondo Squali launch their routes through rolling Emilia-Romagna terrain; the coast itself is pancake-flat but makes for fast recovery rides along the beach promenade.
