LOVE Koibotaru Run Onion Relay Marathon is a team relay marathon in Chikugo, Fukuoka Prefecture, held on a special grass-area course at Koibotaru Chikugo Hirokoen. The race is in June, and this edition marks the event's fifth running. It works like a standard relay marathon, with timing, rankings, and three race categories rather than a casual fun run with no results.
The course is wide and very flat, which should make it easy for teams to keep a rhythm and for newer runners to handle their legs without worrying about hills or tight turns. The odd little signature is the onion aid station, where runners can take home fresh onions from Kyushu. After the race, participants can use discount tickets for a hot spring, so the day leans into local food and bathing culture as much as the relay format itself.
