Mending Minds 5k and 1 Mile
The Mending Minds 5k and 1 Mile is an annual run/walk for mental health awareness held at Smith Park, 4000 Greenbriar, in University Park, Texas. Participants can choose between a 5 km race or a 1 mile route (approximately 1.6 km). Registration is available on the event day in the morning prior to the 8:30 am start.
The event benefits the Parenting for the Present Foundation, an organization that provides resources, mental health services, and psychological testing for underprivileged children in South Dallas. Activities on race day include games, refreshments, t-shirts, and photo opportunities. Direct donations are accepted for those unable to attend. Pets are not permitted at the event.
Run4Babies
Run4Babies is a 5K and 1 Mile run/walk held at Riverwalk South on Willing Street in Milton, Florida. The 5K begins at 8:00 AM CDT and concludes by 10:15 AM, offering a focused morning event with both a standard short race and a shorter option for walkers, families, and younger participants.
The race funds pregnancy loss and SIDS research, and it also aids single mothers and low-income families with essential items like formula, diapers, and clothing. All finishers get a medal, and the top three in each male and female age group receive an additional medal. Age divisions range from 0-4 to 80+. Registration includes an event-themed shirt while supplies last. Participants should check results before departing, as awards are presented on-site and not mailed.
Powered to Move All Abilities Superhero Run 5k and Fun Run - Walk, Run, Wheelchair/Handcycle Roll
Powered to Move’s All Abilities Superhero Run is a 5K and fun run for running, walking, wheelchair use, or handcycling. The event is designed so every participant moves in their own way, with manual wheelchairs, push chairs, race chairs, handcycles, and strollers permitted on the course.
The race benefits Powered to Move’s programs for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities, including adapted fitness, Wingman, and handcycle programs, along with activities at the Powered to Move Community Center. Participants requiring assistance must be accompanied by a registered family member or friend. All participants on the course will wear a bib. Awards will be given in categories for handcycle, wheelchair, race chair, push chair team, youth, teen, and adult age groups.
Race for Space 5K/10K
The Race for Space 5K/10K designation applies to short road races held at actual space facilities, distinct from typical city-street running events. New Mexico’s Space Race takes place at Spaceport America, the first commercial spaceport globally, offering 5K, 10K, and half marathon distances. Florida’s ACS Gateway to Space 5K/10K is conducted at Kennedy Space Center on the Launch and Landing Facility, previously known as the Shuttle Landing Facility. Houston’s Angels’ Race for Space is a 5K/10K event based at Space Center Houston.
The most notable aspect is the location: at Kennedy, participants run on a course within the same facility where shuttle history remains evident, marked by landing traces from previous shuttle missions. The Houston race supports a charitable cause, benefiting Be An Angel, an organization assisting children with special needs since 1986. It also commemorates Apollo 7 astronaut Walt Cunningham, connecting the local run to NASA history and a children's cause. The Spaceport America event highlights the commercial space aspect, providing runners a unique opportunity to race within a site designed for private spaceflight, rather than a conventional park or downtown circuit.
Run/Walk for a Hunger Free World
Run/Walk for a Hunger Free World is a 5K run-or-walk event in Plano, Texas, held at Red Tail Pavilion, 2801 E Spring Creek Parkway. Scheduled for October, it operates on a straightforward premise: participation provides meals for those in need.
The event targets individuals and families, not solely competitive runners, so walking the 5K is encouraged. The published materials emphasize hunger relief, with each mile contributing to meals for people facing food insecurity.

TXFallenPD Tribute Event
The TXFallenPD Tribute Event is a community race day at Doubletree Ranch Park in Highland Village, Texas, featuring a 5K run and honor bike events. It began in 2008 as a police bike race for Texas officers killed in the line of duty, and this remembrance remains central to the day.
The event includes a civilian Honor Ride, a police or first responder Honor Bike Race/Ride, and a kids ride with a cop, offering more than a standard road race. Proceeds benefit the Texas Police Chiefs Association Foundation, providing financial aid to families of Texas officers killed in service. The event has raised over half a million dollars for the Fallen Officer Fund. The day also includes vendors, live music, yard games, food, drinks, and a kid zone, creating a local fundraiser atmosphere centered on races and rides.

Dirt Circus - Dallas
Dirt Circus Dallas is a free trail-running festival in Flower Mound, Texas, centered on a casual 5K group run on nearby trails. It functions more as a community gathering than a traditional race; participants can run, observe, converse with race organizers, and immerse themselves in the local trail environment.
The event convenes local races, run clubs, running shops, coaches, brands, and vendors, featuring an expo alongside the run. The schedule also features a spectator-friendly local elite exhibition run, a trail film screening, discussions with local outdoor specialists, breakfast and lunch, and a social gathering at a brewery. UltraSignup characterizes the series as a real-world extension of its platform, enabling runners and race directors to connect in person and exchange insights on races, locations, and trails.
The Colony Shoreline 5K & 8 Miler
The Colony Shoreline 5K & 8 Miler begins at Stewart Creek Park in The Colony, Texas, a northern Dallas suburb. This volunteer-led October race offers two distances: a 5K (3.1 miles) and an 8-mile run. Hundreds of runners participate annually, with proceeds benefiting UT Southwestern's cancer research.
The course follows The Colony Shoreline Trail for approximately sixty percent of the 5K and eighty percent of the 8-mile distance, utilizing its smooth crushed granite path. The trail offers views of Lake Lewisville and features a gently rolling terrain. Participants receive water stops, a porta-potty at each turnaround, a chip-timed bib, a cotton shirt, a medal, music from DJ Dame, and a post-run beer.
2025 11th Annual Running of the Bulldogs Fun Run
The Running of the Bulldogs is a school-based fun run at McKinney North High School in McKinney, Texas, now in its eleventh year. The morning begins with a one-mile run at 8:30am, followed by a 5K at 9:00am. The race raises funds for the McKinney North High School Cross Country and Track & Field teams.
Both races begin on the high school campus. The 5K route goes through the Timber Creek neighborhood, featuring rolling hills, before returning for a final 300 meters on the MNHS track. Mile runners receive finisher ribbons, 5K runners receive custom medals, and age-group winners earn trophies. The top male and female finishers each get sunglasses and a Fleet Feet gift card. The event also includes campus festival elements like bounce houses, local artisans, food trucks, coffee, live music, and face painting around the race-day area.
633 Run
The 633 Run begins and ends at Lobo Stadium in Little Elm, Texas. Runners will navigate the town's trail system adjacent to Lake Lewisville. This yearly community event offers multiple race distances: a 1-mile Fun Run, a 5K, a 6.33-mile race, and a 633M Tactical Division. The 5K is open to participants aged 6 and older, and the 6.33-mile race is open to those aged 9 and older.
The race commemorates Jerry R. Walker, a Little Elm Police officer who passed away while serving. The 6.33-mile distance is derived from Walker's badge number, 633. Proceeds from the event benefit a student scholarship fund for public service. Little Elm ISD, which has a middle school named after Walker, maintains a close connection to the race. The district serves a rapidly expanding lakeside community situated along Lake Lewisville.
