Monster Miles Challenge
The Monster Miles Challenge is a month-long virtual mileage contest. While based in Greensboro, North Carolina, participants can log miles from anywhere in the USA. During October, runners and walkers record as many miles as they can through their individual portals. Walking, jogging, and running all count toward the total.
There is no fixed course; participants can cover their miles alone or with a friend wherever they train. Awards go to the top three female, male, and non-binary participants. The first edition also includes a pizza party after the challenge plus a donation of 20 percent of proceeds to a charity still to be chosen.
High Point Brat Trot 5k
The High Point Brat Trot 5K is an Oktoberfest-themed run starting and ending at Dive Bar High Point. It accommodates runners aiming for a fast 5K and those who prefer to jog or walk in costume with friends; dirndls, lederhosen, alpine hats, suspenders, braids, and other Oktoberfest attire are encouraged.
The race supports A Shared Blessing Food Pantry through monetary donations and food collections. Participants receive an official Oktoberfest Brat Trot T-shirt, a custom medal, complimentary beer, and a mini brat upon finishing. Entry also includes access to the post-race Oktoberfest Block Party, featuring drinks, music, and games.

Cannonball Running Festival - Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K
The Cannonball Running Festival begins and ends in Country Park in Greensboro, North Carolina. Races utilize the A & Y Greenway and park roads. This event spans a Friday and Saturday, offering a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K run/walk, Kids Dash, a virtual option, and the Double Barrel Challenge for participants completing two races.
The Double Barrel Challenge links the Friday night 5K with a Saturday race, with distinct options for marathon, half marathon, and 10K participants. The event fosters a post-race gathering atmosphere: local craft breweries serve runners and spectators on Saturday, race registration includes two craft brews, and proceeds from spectator beer sales benefit Brenner Children's.
Rock the Block 2025
Rock the Block is a community race event in Johnson County, Indiana, featuring a timed 10K, a family-friendly 5K walk/run, and a free Kids Run. It accommodates various participants: runners can compete in the 10K, families can enjoy a relaxed pace in the 5K, and children have their own cost-free event.
The day also offers food, music, vendors, awards, and giveaways, functioning as a local gathering alongside the race. Entry fees and support benefit organizations serving youth and families in Johnson County, and the event has raised significant funds for charity throughout its history. Sponsors and volunteers are essential in transforming the race into a fundraiser for the local community.
Hawg Run
The Hawg Run is a 5K starting at the YMCA on W. 3rd Avenue, held during Barbecue Month as part of the Barbecue Festival. It is structured around a local festival day, not a separate race weekend, and includes a non-competitive Fun Run/Walk for a family-friendly option.
The route goes through local neighborhoods to Grimes Park before returning to the YMCA. Entry fees fund scholarships for after-school programs, summer camp, youth sports, swim lessons, and YMCA memberships for local children and families. The race has helped mark long-running editions of the Barbecue Festival, integrating the run into that local tradition.
Westerwood 5K
The Westerwood 5K is a 5-kilometer race in Greensboro, North Carolina, taking place in the historic, wooded Westerwood neighborhood. It is part of the Trivium Triad Running Series and welcomes runners, joggers, and walkers, meaning the field includes those not solely focused on achieving a fast time.
The course incorporates the neighborhood setting, featuring fall foliage along the route. Music, displays, and inspirational signs are arranged for participants. The finish offers a relaxed neighborhood party atmosphere, with chili, bread, and a beverage available post-race.
Little Pink LaRue Run - Breast Cancer 5K Run/Walk
The Little Pink LaRue Run is a breast cancer fundraiser held at Country Park in Greensboro, North Carolina. It features a 5K run, an untimed 5K walk, and a Kids Fun Run. The 5K events begin in the morning, with the children's race, for ages 10 and under, taking place later. This is the fourth annual community event. Entry fees are reduced for children, and 5K walk registration is free for those aged 1 to 12.
The 5K course circles Country Park and includes moderate hills, making it a relaxed park race rather than a fast time-trial course. The event supports Little Pink Houses of Hope, an organization that provides breast cancer patients and their families with week-long vacation retreats, offering a break from treatment and financial concerns. Packet pickup is available at Fleet Feet stores in Burlington and Greensboro, with runners receiving a store discount upon collection.
14th Annual Old North State 5K Turkey Trot Run
The Old North State Turkey Trot is a 5K run and walk held on Thanksgiving morning. Now in its 14th year, the setup is straightforward: pay a $20 entry fee, receive a long-sleeve Turkey Trot shirt, and join a family-friendly group of runners, walkers, stroller users, and others primarily attending for the holiday shirt.
The race also functions as a food-bank fundraiser, linking the day to giving as much as running. All who register by the shirt deadline are guaranteed their shirt on race day. Donors can add a personal name or company logo to the back of the shirts and will also receive free tees.
Greensboro Gobbler 5K
The Greensboro Gobbler 5K is a Thanksgiving morning turkey trot held at Center City Park in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina. It offers both a 5K and a 1-mile fun run/walk, accommodating runners seeking a quick holiday race and families looking for a leisurely walk before their meal. For over 24 years, it has been Greensboro’s largest turkey trot, and organizers also note it as the city’s longest-running event of its kind.
The format is straightforward: participants convene downtown, run or walk starting from Center City Park, and link the morning to a local charity. The event welcomes a wide range of participants, not just elite athletes, including experienced runners, casual walkers, families, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners. Recent ownership transitions have encouraged an increase in partnerships and sponsor involvement, yet the fundamental tradition remains a local Thanksgiving race focused on fitness, gratitude, and community gathering before the holiday meal.
Running of the Turkeys
The Dana Point Turkey Trot takes runners through Dana Point Harbor on Thanksgiving Day, prior to the holiday meal. This USA Track & Field-certified event offers a 5K, 10K, Combo 15K, and a Kids' 1-Mile Gobble Wobble. Distances accommodate families, casual runners, and those seeking a longer morning run.
The event is one of the largest turkey trots in the United States and is approaching its 50th running. Race day includes a costume contest and a health and fitness expo surrounding the runs. Proceeds benefit local charities in the Dana Point community.
Reindeer Romp 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run
The Reindeer Romp, a 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run, takes place at Alliance Airport, 2221 Alliance Blvd in Fort Worth, Texas, on December 10th. The 1 Mile race begins at 8:30 AM, followed by the 5K at 9:00 AM. The event proceeds regardless of weather conditions. The entry fee is the same for both distances, and participants have the option to complete both races without an additional charge.
The Reindeer Romp benefits the Physical Education Departments of Northwest ISD and marks its 18th year. Designed for families and school-community participation, it has no age restrictions. Spectators are welcome, and participants can choose to run, walk, crawl, or skip. Dogs are permitted if owners ensure cleanup and safety for all. Registration covers a T-shirt, and all finishers will receive a medal.
