It is a festive community race rather than a serious road-racing showcase, with hundreds of runners and walkers encouraged to show up in holiday outfits. Le Pat Campbell Fighting Cancer 5K, c'est une course et marche qui se fait le week-end de la Saint-Patrick à Toronto, Ohio. Le départ est sur North River Avenue, pas loin de l'Ohio River. La course démarre un peu avant la marche, et tu peux t'inscrire le matin même de l'événement. C'est vraiment fait pour tout le monde, coureurs et marcheurs, pas juste les compétiteurs. Ça soutient les patients atteints de cancer qui ont des besoins non couverts dans toute la Ohio Valley, et tous les fonds récoltés aident directement les personnes et les familles qui suivent un traitement contre le cancer. Le parcours longe l'Ohio River, il est certifié USATF et chronométré par des pros. Donc, c'est parfait si tu cherches à faire un bon 5K rapide en début de saison, ou juste pour soutenir la cause. N'hésite pas à venir en vert ou en kilt, c'est la tradition ! Il y aura l'hymne national en direct, une garde de couleurs, de quoi manger, de la musique et une tombola "Irish Blessings". Des prix sont remis aux premiers hommes et femmes au scratch, et aussi aux meilleurs de chaque catégorie d'âge. Tous les participants de 12 ans et moins reçoivent une médaille. Depuis 2010, la course a déjà reversé plus de $273,000 au Ohio Valley Fighting Cancer Fund, une association caritative 501(c)(3) enregistrée.

Pour sa deuxième édition, le Sole to City te propose une course emblématique qui traverse Mill Creek Park, avec une arrivée en centre-ville.
