Wisconsin Cheese Run
SAM OCT 3
Panting Four Paws
SAM OCT 3
Panting for Paws hosts 5K and 10K runners and walkers at West Florence High School for its annual animal-shelter fundraiser. A virtual 5K is available for those unable to attend in person, and the race proceeds regardless of weather. Finishers earn medals, and virtual participants receive a shirt and medal. The in-person event features music, food, and children's activities, with proceeds benefiting homeless dogs and cats via The Darlington County Humane Society Shelter and The Florence Area Humane Society. Those not participating in the run or walk can assist by volunteering or donating.
Jaimie Cox Memorial Run
SAM OCT 17
The Jaimie Cox Memorial Run begins at Roscoe Middle School in Roscoe, Illinois. In October, participants can choose between a 5K run/walk and a 2-mile walk. The event honors Jaimie Cox and serves as a charity fundraiser, noted by organizers as the Roscoe area’s largest 5K charity event. Starting from the school, the course proceeds west to the historic Stone Bridge Trail. It then turns south, reaches a halfway point, and loops back to Roscoe Middle School. The route features mixed surfaces, including crushed limestone and gravel, offering a different feel than a typical road 5K and resembling more of a community trail run. Registration is available for walkers, runners, children, and virtual participants, broadening the event beyond a standard timed race.
Tombstone Trot
DIM OCT 18
The Tombstone Trot guides runners and walkers through Prairie Home Cemetery, featuring a 5K run, a 2-mile walk, a Kiddos Run, and a 5K ruck. This October community race is organized by Prairie Home Cemetery and Silver Circle Sports Events, centered on the cemetery’s anniversary and its extensive local history. The route remains within the cemetery grounds, making the setting integral to the event. Participants pass a historic Waukesha landmark instead of a typical road course. A portion of the entry fees benefits Friends of Prairie Home Cemetery, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with funds designated for a monument and flagpole in the newer Veterans section. The event also offers a 50/50 raffle and sells Prairie Home Cemetery history books, contributing to a preservation fundraiser atmosphere rather than a standard 5K.
Richardson Farm Fall 5K & 10K with Family 1 Mile Adventure Run
DIM OCT 18
The Richardson Farm Fall 5K & 10K is an obstacle-course race at Richardson Farm in Spring Grove, Illinois, featuring a corn maze. Participants can select a timed or untimed 5K, a 10K, a 5K route through the farm, a 1 Mile Adventure Run for families, and children’s events including a 100-meter maze dash. The 5K route runs inside Richardson Farm’s corn maze, described as the World’s Largest Corn Maze. The path is marked but includes numerous turns, offering a puzzle-like experience rather than a typical road race. Families have a shorter adventure run, and the variety of timed, untimed, children’s, and walk-friendly options accommodates a range of participants.
Abominable Trail Race
SAM NOV 14
The Abominable Trail Race takes place at Lake Geneva Ziplines & Adventures, featuring woods, hills, and various distance options suitable for casual walkers and runners seeking a challenging outing. The available race distances are 5K, 10K, 15K, and 30K, with the shorter distances welcoming participants of all skill levels. The 30K Challenge, the longest event, can be completed individually or as a relay by teams of two, three, or four. This is the fourth year for the race, and it offers a clearly marked course, chip timing, complimentary action photos, an Abominable shirt, a finisher medal, and a beverage at the end.
Wolfpack 5K: The Great Turkey Chase
DIM NOV 22
St. Leonard Turkey Trot
JEU NOV 26
The St. Leonard Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving 5K in Muskego, Wisconsin, with four event options for people who want different ways to join the morning. It is built as a community race rather than a bare-bones run, with chip timing for runners, colorful wicking shirts, refreshments, a DJ, participant ribbons, and age-group awards in ten-year brackets. The course tours historic Pioneer Drive and then moves through wide subdivision streets in Muskego. Runners get two water stations, sentries at most intersections, and plenty of cowbells along the way, so the race has the feel of a local holiday tradition with families, casual runners, and more competitive 5K participants sharing the same Thanksgiving start.
Burlington Turkey Trot with myTEAM TRIUMPH
JEU NOV 26
The Burlington Turkey Trot, part of myTEAM TRIUMPH, begins at Burlington High School in Burlington, Wisconsin, on Thanksgiving morning. This 5K event is structured around two roles: Angels, who are able-bodied runners, and Captains, who are athletes with a disability. Both 5K Angel and 5K Captain registrations are free, with both races starting at 8:30 AM CST. Angels run to promote inclusion and assist Captains to the finish line, emphasizing teamwork over individual competition. The event also features a Photo Circle for myTEAM TRIUMPH athletes, allowing participants to contribute race-day photos or view images from previous years.
Burlington Turkey Trot 5k Run/Walk
JEU NOV 26
The Burlington Turkey Trot 5k Run/Walk takes place on Thanksgiving morning in Burlington, Wisconsin. This straightforward 5k course starts and finishes at 400 McCanna Parkway, accommodating both runners and walkers. The event focuses on a family-friendly holiday tradition, not solely on competitive times. Thrivent Shoreline Group and Southern Lakes Area Love Inc sponsor the race. The event includes fundraising efforts, with $2,881 raised toward a $5,000 goal.
Harvard Milk Days
SAM JUN 5
