Thrasher Night Trail
Cave Creek Thriller
Cave Creek Thriller is a desert trail race in Arizona with four distances: 50K, 24K, 11K, and 5K. The long races are point-to-point runs that finish inside Cave Creek Regional Park, while the 11K and 5K stay fully inside the park. It opens the Desert Runner Trail Series, and runners should expect a hard, exposed course with steep and rocky sections, full sun, and temperatures that can reach the 90s.
The 50K starts at the Agua Fria Trailhead near Lake Pleasant, follows the Maricopa Trail, uses a short stretch of the Black Canyon Trail, passes through Anthem on a desert corridor, climbs past Spear S Ranch, and finishes on the Go John, Quartz, and Overton Trails. The 24K starts at the Anthem Trailhead and follows the same final route into Cave Creek Regional Park. Shorter-distance runners get hilly mountain trails inside the park, with wide Sonoran Desert views instead of much shade.
Donor Dash 10K - 5K - 1K Family Fun Run
Donor Dash is an October running event in Tempe, Arizona, starting from 101 West Baseline Road. The race offers runners three choices: a 10K, a 5K, and a 1K Family Fun Run, accommodating those seeking a standard road-race distance and families wanting a short outing.
The Transplant Community Alliance organizes the event, and this is the seventh running of the Donor Dash. The format is a community race day focused on organ donation and transplant support, with the 1K option suitable for children, relatives, and walkers alongside the 5K and 10K runners.
#AZ48 Half Marathon, 10K & 5K
The #AZ48 Half Marathon, 10K & 5K is a flat, fast road race series in Downtown Chandler, Arizona. All three distances start and finish at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park East Stage Plaza. The course is USATF-certified, providing an officially measured route within the downtown area.
The route follows the streets around Downtown Chandler, passing local sights and race-day activity before returning to the same plaza for the finish. Every finisher receives a medal. The top three men and women overall get awards, and age-group awards are given three deep for men and women. Packet pickup is at the Downtown Chandler Hilton Garden Inn, which is also the host hotel offering race-weekend rates.
The Monster Dash 5K
The Monster Dash 5K, a Halloween-themed 5K and kids' race, takes place in Manito Park on Spokane's South Hill. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes. The event is structured so adults can complete the chip-timed 5K before joining their children for the Kids' Fun Run.
The kids' races offer 1-mile, half-mile, and quarter-mile distances. Adults may walk or run with children throughout these shorter courses. Candy goodie bags are provided at the finish line. Bib and shirt pickup is located at the Lower Manito Park Picnic Shelter. All proceeds from the race benefit Active4Youth, a local nonprofit providing free elementary running programs within Spokane Public Schools, West Valley School District, and Central Valley School District.
Medal Madness 5K & 10K at Phoenix, AZ (44)
Medal Madness in Phoenix is a morning 5K and 10K starting at 8:00 AM. Participants must register via RunSignup prior to race day, as on-site registration is unavailable. Packet pickup is limited to the 30 minutes before the start until 10 minutes before the start.
Both distances share an out-and-back course. The complete out-and-back segment measures 1.56 miles, meaning the 5K covers it twice and the 10K covers it four times. The race has a 2-hour time limit, ensuring a concise event with a simple course layout for both distances.
PB&J Fuel Run 5K/10K/13.1
PB&J Fuel Run is a small private group run centered on the peanut-butter-and-jelly theme, offering 5K, 10K, and half-marathon distances. Runners and walkers of all paces are welcome, and younger participants may enter with a guardian. Each wave has a participant limit, so entries close once a wave is full; runners who miss out can join the waitlist or select the virtual option.
The format is straightforward: no special equipment is needed, and timing is optional. Participants may record their own time using a watch or phone, or consider it an untimed run with coordinator assistance. The event is designed as a relaxed group outing rather than a competitive race, with local run club invitations extended as part of the sign-up support.
MUDGIRL Phoenix
MUDGIRL Phoenix is a women-only 5K mud run held at Rawhide Western Town. The event focuses on over 17 obstacles rather than a finish-time pursuit. Since there is no timing and runners are not required to complete every obstacle, the event suits first-timers, teams of friends, walkers, and women seeking a muddy challenge without competitive pressure.
The course covers about 3 miles, with participants running, walking, climbing, sliding, and crawling through mud. The day also features a MUDGIRL Festival. Start waves occur throughout much of the day, and participants should arrive well before their assigned wave. Parking is available at or near the venue, with different fees for cars and RVs.
Pass Mountain
Pass Mountain is a desert trail race held at Usery Mountain Regional Park in Mesa, Arizona. All distances are run entirely on unpaved trails. It is the second event in Aravaipa Running’s Desert Runner Trail Series. The race typically offers 5K, 10K, 25K, 50K, and 50-mile distances, accommodating both short trail runners and ultrarunners. The start and finish are at the Trailhead Staging Area. Longer races begin early in the morning, with chip-timed results available at the finish.
The routes traverse Usery Mountain, bordering the Goldfield Mountain Range. Elevations range from approximately 1,800 feet at the start to nearly 2,600 feet at the highest points. The 25K and 50K courses complete a loop around Pass Mountain in Tonto National Forest, the namesake feature of the race. Aid stations are positioned approximately every 3.0 to 8.6 miles, providing water, electrolyte drink, snacks, and fruit. Runners are advised to carry at least one bottle. The event has a field limit of about 400 participants and has been a fixture in Arizona trail racing since 2010.
