Thrive Empowerment Center - Thrive 5k Walk-Run
The Thrive 5K Walk-Run is a 5K event in Devou Park, held during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This community-action run and walk emphasizes public support for those affected by domestic violence, with participants walking, running, and cheering.
The course winds through Devou Park, with runners and walkers sharing the path. The event also features a resource fair offering information on domestic violence prevention and introductions to local organizations that support survivors and work to end abuse.
Little Rooster Run
Little Rooster Run is a trail-race evening at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds and Park in Glencoe, Kentucky, offering three options on the same schedule. Children 10 and under can complete a half-mile fun run. The 5K trail race follows, with a two-hour cutoff allowing walkers to participate without being rushed.
The event, now in its second year, is organized by Ultra Ridge Runners Racing. Glencoe is located in rural northern Kentucky between I-71 and I-75, accessible for runners from Cincinnati, Lexington, or Louisville. The Mini Barnyard Ultra Trail is a unique feature: an evening "last runner standing" race that can continue late into the night. In a past edition, Chris Emberton won after 28 laps, covering 58.33 miles in 14 hours.
Honor Run Half Marathon
The Honor Run Half Marathon begins and ends at Florence Mall in Florence, Kentucky, starting at 7:00 AM on the weekend closest to Veterans Day annually. This road half marathon directly supports Honor Flight Tri State, with race proceeds assisting local veterans of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam in their travel to Washington, D.C. to visit their memorials. The event also offers 10K and 5K run/walk options, catering to half marathoners, walkers, shorter-distance runners, and families supporting the cause.
The initial mile circles the mall before the course proceeds along the west side of Florence Square and north on Houston Road. Participants will pass the City of Florence Golf Course, local businesses, Turfway Park, and Turfway Road, where aircraft might be landing or taking off at the adjacent Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The latter half follows Aero Parkway, turns back, and then heads toward the mall finish via Ted Bushelman Boulevard. The race originated as a practical fundraiser, contributing approximately $430,000 over its first ten years, which helped send around 800 local veterans to Washington, D.C.
Candy Cane Course- Cincinnati
The Candy Cane Course Cincinnati is a yearly Christmas-themed race day offering several participation options: 5K, 10K, 15K, 1 mile, Kids Dash, Volunteer then Run, and a virtual race. It is designed for families and mixed groups, featuring youth pricing for the 5K and 10K and a Kids Dash for children age 10 and under.
The longer race distances include chip timing with live results and awards. The 1 mile and Kids Dash are untimed. Participants in the 5K, 10K, 15K, and 1 mile receive a custom bib, a designer shirt, and a finisher medal. Kids Dash participants get a mini bib, a youth-sized shirt, and their own medal. The finish area provides free participant photos and treats. The virtual race allows participation from any location while still earning event merchandise.
Hillbilly Hustle 5K & 10K
The Hillbilly Hustle 5K & 10K is a spring road race in Georgetown, Kentucky, offering both 5K and 10K distances. The race begins and ends at Country Boy Brewing, centering the event at a local brewery rather than a school track or downtown square.
The format is straightforward: participants select either the 5K or 10K distance, return to the brewery finish area, and may remain for a post-race beverage. Georgetown Run/Walk Company organizes the race, which also features a family-friendly Easter Egg Hunt following the running events.
Beechwood PTSA Tiger Trail 5K
The Beechwood PTSA Tiger Trail 5K begins and ends at Beechwood Independent School in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. The main 5K run/walk starts at 8:00 a.m. This event combines a 5K for runners and walkers with a Kids Fun Run, focusing on the school community rather than solely competitive racing. It is a primary fundraiser for the Beechwood Schools PTSA, with proceeds benefiting Beechwood students and PTSA programs throughout the school year.
The 5K is described as a trail race, with the majority of the course on unpaved trails. However, older information indicates a 3.1-mile route on paved paths around Fort Mitchell. The children’s race takes place on campus, with participants aged 8 and under completing one lap around the football field track after the 5K awards ceremony. Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners, student winners, and age-group finishers from 12 and under up to 70 and over. Race numbers and shirts can be picked up before race day or on race morning, and parking is available free of charge at the school.
