11th Annual Chimpathon - Run/Walk 5K & 10K 2027

Chimpathon offers a 5K and 10K run/walk within Save the Chimps, a 150-acre sanctuary typically closed to the public. This sanctuary houses nearly 220 chimpanzees rescued from research, entertainment, and the pet trade. The race provides a unique opportunity to visit their home, alongside being a timed road event. Participants can select the 5K or 10K, with VIP options for fundraisers and a virtual 5K for those unable to attend. The course is flat and chip-timed, utilizing the entire loop of the sanctuary, accessible only on Chimpathon day. Along the path, participants will see all 12 island habitats and might observe chimpanzee families engaged in their daily activities. The event is open to teens and adults, with fundraising integrated into the race. The initial 100 individuals who raise $500 become VIP Chimp Champs, aiming for a total of $50,000, which supports a year of care for two sanctuary residents.
