À propos de cette course
Bosque Bigfoot Trail Runs guides participants through Albuquerque's Bosque, a cottonwood-lined area beside the Rio Grande in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. This late-November trail event offers three distances: a 50K ultra, a 16-mile Discovery run, and an 8-mile Explorer run. Established in 2005, the event prioritizes dirt-path adventure over road-race speed, with 95% of the course on unpaved trails.
The course follows the Bosque trail system near Montaño Road NW, featuring a mix of singletrack, jeep road, roots, and sandy sections. It is not overly technical, making it suitable for runners seeking trail miles without steep mountain terrain or continuous rock scrambling. The Bigfoot theme defines the race's character, reflected in distance names like Discovery and Explorer and race descriptions centered on mysterious footprints. Without prize money, the participants are typically trail runners, ultra runners, and newer off-road runners opting for the shorter distances, rather than athletes competing for financial rewards.
