The D-Day Dash honors the legacy of the US Army Rangers. On D-Day, they scaled the 90-foot cliffs of Point du Hoc under heavy machine gun fire, and at Omaha Beach, they were urged forward with the famous line, "Rangers, lead the way!" Despite heavy casualties, they established a foothold that led to the eventual liberation of Europe. The D-Day Dash continues this tradition. Run all three races in the Ranger Memorial Triad to earn a free T-shirt and medal. This out-and-back race on a paved trail at Ascarate Park is timed for parents to run and also assist their children in the fun run.
