À propos de cette course
Horseshoe Bend Ultras is a desert trail ultra held in Page, Arizona. Runners begin in the dark under headlamps, near the red-rock country surrounding Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend. The series features a challenging 50-mile race. Early March conditions can be surprisingly cold before sunrise, particularly with wind across the open sand.
The course begins with deep, shifting sand, then quickly transitions to slickrock scrambles requiring hand and foot use. Later sections include sandy roads, dry riverbeds, slickrock chutes, and narrow slot canyons with high rock walls. Aid stations and a large volunteer crew support participants through the desert. A pre-race shake-out on the Page Rim Trail offers views of Lake Powell and a preview of the terrain near the finish.
