À propos de cette course
Legends Never Die begins and ends at Oregon Gulch near Ketchum, Idaho, sending runners onto steep single-track in the Sun Valley backcountry. This fall trail-running series offers a half marathon and a 55K ultra, with the day focused on climbing, altitude, and mountain trails instead of road speed. The half marathon covers approximately 13 miles and gains about 2,400 feet to a high point of 7,600 feet. The 55K is about 34 miles with 6,781 feet of climbing and a high point above 8,500 feet.
The half marathon route follows the Big Wood River on the Saddle Trail, turns around near Chocolate Gulch, passes an aid station at Fox Creek, and then climbs over the Oregon-Fox Connector before looping back to the finish. The ultra utilizes the same rugged mountain terrain and adds a longer loop around Fox Peak towards Easley Hot Springs. Aid stations provide water, Tailwind, and food. The finish line offers beer, kombucha, and non-alcoholic beer. Participants receive an event shirt, top runners get prizes, the fastest man and woman can win a Limelight Hotel stay, and the race supports Higher Ground, Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, Wood River Trails Coalition, and Soles4Souls.
