À propos de cette course
Mad Meadows 50 takes runners into the Eastern Cascades near Leavenworth, Washington, starting from the Grouse Creek Group Campsite on Chiwawa River Road. This October trail race offers two ultra distances, 50K and 50 miles, focusing on high alpine terrain rather than fast, flat running. The 50K course involves approximately 6,000 feet of elevation gain and loss, reaching about 7,000 feet. The 50-mile race ascends even higher, peaking above 7,000 feet. Both events have an evening cutoff, requiring steady pacing alongside climbing strength.
The course combines smooth singletrack with steep ascents, rocky ridges, technical segments, alpine meadows, and golden larch stands during the larch season. From the higher ridges, participants can view the Entiat River Valley to the east and Clark Mountain and Dakobed (also known as Glacier Peak) to the west. This mountain ultramarathon suits runners seeking altitude, autumn colors, exposed ridge running, and challenging footing.
